Young Ones Student Awards 2024 winners announced

The One Club for Creativity started Creative Week 2024 by honoring winning schools and students from all over the world in the global Youth Student Awards 2024 ceremony at Sony Hall in New York

Young Ones is one of the world’s most acclaimed competitive showcases for advertising, digital communications and design students. The program offers four separate competitions:

Youth ADCoffering students the opportunity to earn an ADC Cube by participating in many of the same disciplines and categories as the prestigious ADC Annual Awards;

Youth one show Short competition, where a team of students is tasked with creating work for a specific client, with the chance to earn a coveted One Show Pencil;

Youth portfolio competition, in which students submit 6 to 15 projects and have them judged by industry professionals as a representation of their entire body of work;

Youth TDCwhere student entries in the field of typography, lettering and type design can win a Certificate of Typographic Excellence from the Type Directors Club, part of The One Club for Creativity.

Based on the cumulative points for all prizes won by a school’s students in this year’s competition, Brigham Young University Provo was crowned Youth School of the Year 2024. The top five schools are rounded up in order Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg Ludwigsburg, ArtCenter College of Design Pasadena, Berghs School of Communication Stockholm and School of Visual Arts New York.

The top winners in the four Young Ones competitions this year are as follows.

Youth ADC 2024 (27 gold cubes, 33 silver, 41 bronze, 211 merit)

Film Academy Baden-Württemberg Ludwigsburg is the best school in Young Ones ADC 2024 Gold Cubes with nine. Two of the gold awards were for ‘Highlife’: one in Motion/Film Craft, Cinematography, and the other in Advertising, Craft in Video.

Brigham Young University Provo took home three gold awards, including two for IMAX – Maximum Immersion in Motion/Film Craft: one for cinematography and the other for editing.

Two Golds each went to it ArtCenter College of Design Pasadena, FIT advertising and digital design New York, Hochschule für Fernsehen en Film München Munich, and Miami Advertising School Berlin.

Young Ones One Show 2024 Short competition (15 gold pencils, 17 silver, 26 bronze, 97 merit)

Brigham Young University Provo received four Gold Pencils in the Young Ones One Show 2024 Brief competition, including two for Duolingo in Experiential & Immersive (‘Duo Wingwoman’ and ‘The Owl’), and two for Dove ‘Make Self-Love Genetic’, one in Film & Video and the other in Integrated Campaign.

With two Golds each ArtCenter College of Design Pasadena, both for ‘Duolingo: Mother Tongue’; Berghs School for Communication Stockholm (two instructions for Velveeta: ‘Velveeta Vision Pro’ and ‘Show Us Your Receipts’), and OpenLearn Academy Fort Lee (USA), both for Fanta: ‘Orange Blood’ and ‘Refresh Label’.

Each of the participants in the competition went to one golden pencil Boston University Boston, Miami Advertising School Miami Miami Advertising School Sao Paulo, Savannah College of Art and Design Savannah, and The Pub School Guayaquil.

Young Ones 2024 Portfolio Competition (36 winners from 21 schools)

Savannah College of Art and Design Savannah led the Young Ones 2024 Portfolio competition with six wins, which went to the following students: Lauren Neu, Stephanie Sandoval, Joshua Stoker, Xavier Thompson, Xiyuan WangAnd Wisdom warning.

School of Visual Arts New York earned five YO Portfolio wins, including two by Huu Minh Pham and one each to go to classmates Junhyuk Lee, My sonAnd Waner Zhang.

Four Young Ones 2024 Portfolio wins went to ArtCenter College of Design Pasadena Students: Harper Quihan Chen, Bamba Kimbal, Michael Jiazhi WangAnd Jocelyn Ziying Zhao.

Three student winners emerged Berghs School for Communication Stockholm: Albert Backman, Miranda KykerAnd Emil Soerensen. Represent Miami Advertising School Berlin were two winners: Kunal Khade And Inna Tabachenko.

Competition Young Ones TDC 2024 (46 winners from 29 schools)

ArtCenter College of Design Pasadena topped this year’s Young Ones TDC 2024 competition with four students winning eight TDC certificates: three by Jocelyn Ziying Zhaotwo through Alan Xuand one each Gwen Geng, Esther Yeseul LeeAnd Weiing Ma.

School of Visual Arts New York has four wins: two by Zedan Pengand one each Huu Minh Phamand that of the school Yearbook team.

The top three participants in Young Ones TDC 2024, as determined by the jury, will also receive the following cash prizes:

-$1,000: Jocelyn Ziying ZhaoArt Center College of Design in Pasadena, for ‘Fabric Museum’ in Communication Design: Branding/Identity

-$500: How Chuan, Ma Yuanning, Ma Yuanzhi, Yang Haojiong And Yin Wenqi (team), China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, for ‘Brain Garden 2023’ in Communication Design: Branding/Identity

– $300: Alan XuArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, for Enco International Limited in Communication Design: Motion Design

Young Ones is celebrated annually with the aim of inspiring and nurturing the next generation of advertising professionals. Events throughout the week provide college students and graduating seniors an invaluable opportunity to network with professionals from top agencies, get feedback on their portfolios, experience the industry’s best work and more.

The Young Ones 2024 Student Awards is the first event of Creative Week 2024which takes place from May 13 to 17 in New York. Now in its 15th year, Creative Week is a premier annual gathering for the advertising and design industries to come together and celebrate the creative excellence showcased in four of the club’s leading global awards shows, and to discuss latest creative trends and issues.
