Oregon Fish and Wildlife appoints Dr. Debbie Colbert as the first female director

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has named its first-ever female director.

The Fish and Wildlife Commission voted unanimously today to appoint Dr. Debbie Colbert for the role.

The agency was first legally recognized as the State Fish Commission in 1887 and became the Department of Fish and Wildlife in 1893.

Dr. Colbert is a native of Corvallis and received her doctorate in oceanography from Oregon State University.
