Smoke from Canadian wildfires has prompted health warnings in the Upper Midwest for the second year in a row, but will it impact our area?

NEW YORK (WABC) — In this episode of Weather or Not, meteorologist Lee Goldberg predicts the wet weather ahead and dives deeper into the potential impact of Canadian wildfires on our region.

Smoke from these wildfires has prompted health warnings in the Upper Midwest and Montana for the second year in a row.

The question is: will it be that bad for our area? You’ll recall that last year, wildfire smoke blanketed the Tri-State in a thick shade of orange, leading to a spike in the Air Quality Index.

While Lee says the smoke is not yet focused on our area, he says there is the potential for some exposure – to what extent is unclear at this time.

As for the immediate forecast, we will see more wet weather towards the end of the week, but no drenches. The same can be said for the long-term forecast, which predicts near-normal temperatures with intermittent rainfall, but not weeks.
