Ann Saylor Obituary – Santa Cruz, CA

Ann Saylor was born in Alabama and lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Idaho as a small child. When she was in eighth grade, she moved to Los Angeles, California. She studied journalism at Los Angeles City College, had three children, and then studied mathematics at California State College Los Angeles, where she earned a bachelor’s degree and a teaching credential. After teaching math at the high school level for thirteen years, she continued her education at California Polytechnic Pomona, where she earned a master’s degree in computer education before working in the private sector as a technical writer. Ann overcame a difficult childhood during the Depression years to become a beloved teacher, friend, wife and mother. Through perseverance, hard work and careful planning, she was able to enjoy a comfortable and rewarding life with her husband, Larry Saylor. Together they lived in Southern California, St. George, Utah and Minden, Nevada. When Larry passed away in 2004, Ann moved back to California, settling in Scotts Valley and eventually joining Dominican Oaks Independent Living in Santa Cruz. With her death, she is survived by three children, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
