Kansas City Current beats North Carolina Courage 1-0. KC is undefeated so far

Nine games into the 2024 National Women’s Soccer League season, the Kansas City Current has not lost.

Debinha’s first goal of the year lifted the Current to its sixth victory, a 1-0 Mother’s Day decision against the North Carolina Courage at CPKC Stadium.

Debinha, making her first start since the Current’s season (and stadium) opener on March 16, scored the only goal Kansas City needed in the second half.

After a handy passage between KC teammates Claire Hutton and Temwa Chawinga, Chawinga found himself with space in the box. Brave goalkeeper Casey Murphy saved Chawinga’s shot, but Debinha was at the back post.

She swept up the loose ball and tapped it into an empty net.

The current defense has now posted back-to-back shutouts and has given up just two goals in the team’s last four games.

KC stays home on Saturday for a late local kickoff at 8:30 PM against Racing Louisville FC.
