LSU Softball

There were no real surprises locally on Sunday night when the NCAA released their 64-team field for the 2024 Division I NCAA Softball Championships.

LSU leads a trio of Louisiana teams into the postseason as the No. 9 seed and host of the Baton Rouge Regional.

Like the Tigers, the Ragin Cajuns of Louisiana are a major newcomer and regional host. As Sun Belt regular-season champions with an impressive No. 9 overall RPI, the No. 13 seed Cajuns will host for the first time since 2016.

Thanks to their Southland Tournament title, Southeastern Louisiana will advance to the NCAA postseason as an automatic qualifier for the first time. The Lions are the third seed in the Tuscaloosa Regional.
